Fine sandy beach, swimming pools of various shapes and sizes and large green spaces make the Lido di Lugano an ideal destination for the whole family. The establishment, inaugurated in 1928, maintains its charm unaltered, enhanced by renovations and the expansion of the terrace overlooking the lake. In addition to bathers and amateur sportsmen, some swimming, water polo and synchronized swimming clubs also train at the Lido di Lugano. The Lido is also the setting for summer film screenings thanks to a film review that receives widespread approval every year. The Lido swimming pools can also be used during the cold season thanks to the installation of a special "balloon" type cover and the heating of the water.

Lugano is a city in southern Switzerland’s Italian-speaking Ticino region. Its Swiss-Mediterranean mix of cultures is closely related to that of Italy’s northern Lombardy region. This mix is reflected in its architecture and cuisine. The city stands on the northern shore of glacial Lake Lugano, surrounded by mountains. Its main square, Piazza della Riforma, is ringed with pastel-colored, neoclassical palazzi.
