Within the city limits there is a small lake Okra and lake Lubie approx. 3 km from the city. Drawsko Pomorskie received city rights on March 8, 1297, although the stronghold and settlement had existed since the 7th century. These lands were incorporated into the emerging Polish state by Mieszko I. Later, these lands became the property of the Brandenburg margraves as areas of the so-called New Marchia.

Drawsko Pomorskie is a town in Drawsko County in West Pomeranian Voivodeship in northwestern Poland, the administrative seat of Drawsko County and the urban-rural commune of Gmina Drawsko Pomorskie. As of 2013, the town has 11,878 inhabitants.
