This 1,000-foot long, concrete ocean fishing pier offers an excellent year round platform for anglers of all levels with many different types of fish to target. Sightseers are welcome and they sometimes get a show from marine mammals such as bottlenose dolphins or the occasional whale spouting. Educational opportunities abound in programs, camps, school field trips and from exhibits. Operating as the fourth facility in the N. C. Aquariums Division of the N. C. Department of Natural and Culture Resources, plenty of conservation messages are shared with guests. There are also several large, live fish aquariums. The fishing and educational attraction also hosts wedding receptions, offers a public beach access with bathrooms and showers.

Nags Head is a beach town on North Carolina's Outer Banks. It’s known for the towering sand dunes in Jockey's Ridge State Park. Displays on local flora and fauna dot the park's boardwalk. Paths through Nags Head Woods Preserve include Roanoke Trail, leading through salt marsh and forest to a quiet beach. South, the top of 1870s Bodie Island Lighthouse offers sweeping views of Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
